What is it with Renée Zellweger playing British women? Zellweger has signed to play Beatrix Potter in a new movie about the author's life.
I would feel more kindly toward Zellweger if she had not said such nasty things about her "hometown" of Katy, Texas a few years ago. Hopefully by now Rene has remembered that old Texas saying,"You Got to Dance with Them What Brung You."

I've begun wondering the same thing ! I quite like Renee Zellwegger - I've seen her in both Bridget Jones movies and Chicago, and I want to see her in Cinderella Man, but I'd rather the casting directors made more of an effort to find a British actress to play someone as utterly British as Beatrix Potter !
What has she got against Katy? I tend to miss all of these celeb things, so I never heard anything she might have said about the area. It's such a down-to-earth, family friendly, all around good place, I can't imagine what she could find to be negative about. Hrmpf.
This is when I wish I had access to Lexis/Nexis so I could quote her exactly. Several years ago, maybe around the time she was in Chicago, she refered to Katy as a place she was dying to get away from and "pigs" were included in her description. She is not THAT old!
