Author: Tomie dePaola

Maine Today has an interview with Tomie DePaola. He has written another "autobiographical" children's book called Stagestruck. I recall hearing him say that he began writing these books when he heard from a young reader who was not allowed to use one a Tomie DePaola book for a book report because it was not a "chapter book." He discusses Strega Nona, trolls and the imagination -- a good interview.

Q: What do people ask you about most when you speak at bookstores and libraries?

A: Kids ask me where my ideas come from. Children today really aren't encouraged to come up with ideas as much. They're too programmed, no time to daydream or doodle or waste time.
