NPR Series: Three Books...

I confess I've never read Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell, but I did read
An Old-Fashioned Girl, by Louisa May Alcott and Understood Betsy, by Dorothy Canfield as a young'un.

I loved Island of the Blue Dolphins! The sequel wasn't quite as good, but still had excellent food for thought.

I agree with Entling...the sequel wasn't a favorite but Island of the Blue Dolphins was one I read and re-read as a child.

I'll have to take another look at it sometime, as well as check out the other books. Thanks for the link to the NPR story!

I remember she did re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-read that book. You did too. I better go find it.

Speaking of re-reading, I've found that An Old Fashioned Girl is the only Alcott I re-read much as a grown up--perhaps because I have the others memorized.
