"On October 6, 2005, The Witching Hour, a Harry Potter symposium, will commence in Salem, Massachusetts. When the time arrives, attendees will don their cloaks, grasp their wands, tote their magical texts and Apparate to the Historic District of Salem for five days of magic and merry-making, text and context, craft and criticism."
Award-winning children's literature author and essayist John Cech will be the key note speaker and discuss "the hero's traditional journey in literature and folklore."Mr. Cech has judged the New York Times' Best Illustrated Books of the Year and has served on the nominating committee for the American nominees for the Hans Christian Anderson Medal. He has received the Chandler Award of Merit for his work in children's literature and is a professor of English and children's literature at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
