New Year Honours List

I confess to an Anglophile's interest with the Honours list each year. Scrolling the new list I was pleased to see Penelope Anne Constance Keith listed. I will watch To the Manor Born any time, any where. Mary Rosamund Briggs, Chief Executive, Seven Stories, The Centre for Children's Books is also to be honored. I hope I get to visit there someday.

Other familiar names to me: George Shearing, Roderick David Stewart, John Wood (whose link in IMDB helped me discover they ARE making more episodes of Lewis!!!--Happy New Year indeed!) and Alexander McCall Smith (have never been able to finish one of his books, alas) and James Hugh Callum Laurie.

You know, I tried to listen to the first Alexander McCall Smith book, too and I didn't like it. I wish I could remember exactly what it was that irked me, but I can't.

My Dad's giddy with excitement that his favourite Liverpool player got an Honour (Stevie Gerrard), whilst I was pleased that John Rutter got an Honour (I'm quite fond of his music, surprisingly, given I'm not a huge fan of choral work !)

As for Penelope Keith, she's a star and it's about time she was honoured. Not only do I love her in "To The Manor Born" but also "The Good Life" !

I apologise for not telling you either directly or via my Blog that they're definitely making more episodes of "Lewis" - I've known that for some months...

Oh my goodness, I should have noticed John Rutter. My daughter performed his music with an orchestra up at college this past month and we were listening to his Christmas music at church, while "Yo" was fashioning origami cranes.

sockbug, yup, I really tried to enjoy No.1 Detective Agency but Smith and I did not gel.
