The word moot is an archaic term meaning "argue, debate, discuss." In early English history, a moot was a meeting to discuss local affairs. Moot comes from the Old English gemot, meaning "meeting."
There are quibbles - I don't love the casting (if it's supposed to represent the whole world, there should be more ethnic minorities, period), and I think the clothes are too tailor and clean for post-apocalyptic living, but I don't LOVEloveLOVE the books enough to not want to see the movie. Sometimes in action-adventure novels there's more room for cinematic interpretation.
