The word moot is an archaic term meaning "argue, debate, discuss." In early English history, a moot was a meeting to discuss local affairs. Moot comes from the Old English gemot, meaning "meeting."
I just saw the obituary. I too loved her books in high school along with those other authors you mention. But she was 104 years old, can you believe it?
When I was young I raided my older sister's book shelf. Phyllis Whitney was a big part of this collection. I still have a few titles on my bookshelves these days.
Me too, Camille. My Mom and I actually both read a lot of her books when I was in high school and a little bit older. Sad news, but what a life, though!
