The word moot is an archaic term meaning "argue, debate, discuss." In early English history, a moot was a meeting to discuss local affairs. Moot comes from the Old English gemot, meaning "meeting."

Movie: Becoming Jane
Here is the trailer for Becoming Jane. At this point I am just checking the dress details. The necklines look like they have the drawstring gathering!! Yippee! Now I have to look at the trimmings.
Now that's out of the way, I feel a bit better. The costumes look good. The movie looks okay, as a work of fiction, but it's pretending that it's not fiction. ARGGGH!!
Sorry -- my WIP is a biography of Jane Austen in period verse, and I've been researching her for months now. And the story the movie purports to tell isn't true, really -- it's complete speculation.
But the clothing looks lovely, I'll give you that!
