The word moot is an archaic term meaning "argue, debate, discuss." In early English history, a moot was a meeting to discuss local affairs. Moot comes from the Old English gemot, meaning "meeting."

Sadness: Lloyd Alexander
Members of Child_Lit are reporting that Lloyd Alexander died this morning.
Oh, dear, my third favorite fantasy author after TOlkien and Lewis, and that's high praise from me.
