The word moot is an archaic term meaning "argue, debate, discuss." In early English history, a moot was a meeting to discuss local affairs. Moot comes from the Old English gemot, meaning "meeting."

Douglas Florian
Oh my giddy aunt! (Learned that expression from Michele at Scholar's Blog.)
Douglas Florian has a blog, Florian Cafe. I know this because Gregory K. at GottaBook reported it last week.
Hi Camille, Yes, I was giddy too! The upside to this is that he is now commenting on blog posts. I'll be following and will be very interested in what he has to say. I do hope he will share a sneak peak at his new book.

ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for the lengthy and insightful essay of a comment on my legislation post.
