The word moot is an archaic term meaning "argue, debate, discuss." In early English history, a moot was a meeting to discuss local affairs. Moot comes from the Old English gemot, meaning "meeting."

We Got "Style"
Librarians are hip and with-it and enjoy Dewey Decimal drinking games!
The NYTimes reports on the social group "Desk Set" in their "Fashion and Style" section today.
It's always nice to see smart people and intelligent socializing, though were I a librarian I might not find it so amusing that the NYT is getting all twitterpated that (Gasp!) someone doesn't fit an antiquated stereotype. Of course, it IS in the Fashion & Style section...

ReplyDeleteThe stereotype will ever be with us though. Google alerts for "librarian" result in a very high percentage of articles that include the word,"shush."
