The word moot is an archaic term meaning "argue, debate, discuss." In early English history, a moot was a meeting to discuss local affairs. Moot comes from the Old English gemot, meaning "meeting."

Edge of the Forest
I've been library subbing so often recently, I completely missed acknowledging the latest issue of The Edge of the Forest.
Once again indefatigable Kelly has done a great job editing all the brilliant and thoughtful articles. Brava!
